Tocer LNE…

For most, identifying your true talents and desires is tough, for many it doesn’t happen, and as a result there's a scarcity for people whose true talents align with their desires.

The best time to begin honing in on your gifts and talents is as young as possible. I choose the word “gift” as it truly defines our hidden skills properly. As we know, most people struggle to merge their passions and skills and those who are certain and have the tools to develop mastery of something at a young age are truly, gifted…

With this said I’d like to speak to one particularly gifted individual's artistic talents…

Tocer LNE

In navigating the constantly evolving landscape of NYC, among the few recurring names there is one who stands out in my eyes among this isolated group. Tocer is accurately described by my previous depiction of young talent, harnessing a variety of various graffiti related skills and employing them to beautify our streets. Most writers have a particular niche either tags and throws, straight letters, piecers, tunnel rats, etc the list goes on…

Tocer, on the other hand, has carefully manicured his artistic arsenal to include a crisp tag with flow, an original throwup with authority and character, a dominant straight letter that is spacious and easy to read, and an array of wicked and colorful pieces.

I choose the word variety as in this case it depicts more than just his styles of graffiti but placement as well. He is attentive to the effect that is cast by possessing multiple styles and distributing them among various landscapes. His placement ranges from below the surface on the tracks to in the air on the rooftops as well as in between: on bridges, in bathrooms, on hotboy gates, in construction sites and lots, to mailboxes and the list continues.

What’s even more impressive than the sheer amount of skill this young writer has, is the pace at which he developed it. Even when you factor in his generational influences like Diego and Anso his rate of progression is incredible.

Ultimately, beside making the point that Tocer LNE is a talented stand out young artist, I’d also like to acknowledge his recent health troubles. I was saddened when I found out he may lose his ability to walk after falling off of a rooftop.

Him becoming paralyzed from the waist down(hopefully only temporarily) has forced me to come to terms with my own gratitude for my health and ability to do what I love. To have to face the very real possibility of not being able to walk again, and how that could hinder your ability to create is a great consequence for anybody let alone someone so young.

Skill and dedication like this is as rare especially in somebody so young, if you have the means reach out and say something kind, if you can even donate to his gofundme linked below. I’d love to watch him regain his health and I’d love for this to become a bump just a small bump in the road of an otherwise prosperous artistic career.
